The Brazil international arrived from French side Lyon in a deal worth around £33million.

Guimaraes was hugely impressive for Club Athletico Paranaense where he made 84 appearances before heading to Lyon in 2019.

Since then the 24-year-old has really impressed in a box-to-box midfield role.

Newcastle's new number 39 then made 71 appearances for the French giants, scoring three goals and creating eight in the process.

A dominant figure in the middle of the park, supporters at St James' Park may not have to wait long to see their new star in action, providing that he returns from international duty unscathed.

Newcastle's next fixture is on Tuesday, February 8 when they host Everton on Tuesday evening, before another home clash against Aston Villa on Saturday, February 12.

Providing that he's passed fit then fans should be able to see their new star man in action before too long.
