"What the f***!" Wrexham get best win in years from Reynolds' favourite position

COVENTRY 3-4 WREXHAM: The National League side held on to dump Championship club Coventry City out of the FA Cup in a thrilling third round tie that excited their co-owner Wrexham saw off their Championship opponents to thrill co-owner Ryan Reynolds

Wrexham earned a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup and stunned Ryan Reynolds as they battled past Championship side Coventry City in a dramatic clash.

Phil Parkinson's National League side saw off their opponents from three divisions above them in a thrilling seven-goal contest at the CBS Arena.

The Dragons raced into a two-goal lead inside the first 18 minutes thanks to a header from Sam Dalby and an Elliot Lee effort from distance, which beat everyone and nestled into the corner of the net from an angle.

The excitement was all too much for co-owner Reynolds, who took to his Instagram Story to share an image of jubilant Wrexham supporters in front of the Coventry scoreboard, asking "What. The, F***. Is. Happening?"

Reynolds, along which co-owner Rob McElhenney, had earlier tweeted that Wrexham were in their "favourite position" of underdogs going into the game, and after Coventry pulled a goal back through Ben Sheaf, Parkinson's side restored their two-goal advantage through Thomas O'Connor in the dying moments of the first half.

Coventry's Jonathan Panzo was then sent off for a handball on the goalline early in the second half, with Wrexham talisman Paul Mullin firing home the penalty to make it 4-1.

To their credit though, Mark Robins' Championship side pulled two goals back through Viktor Gyokeres and Kasey Palmer, the latter with a superb free-kick.

Wrexham were then required to hang on throughout the seven minutes of injury time which brought several Coventry chances, and they take their place in Sunday's fourth round draw.

Forward Ollie Palmer had discussed the prospect of facing a big side in the tournament before the match.

"You either want a big Premier League club away or get drawn at home. Everything in between in League One or Championship is a bit like: whatever," he said.

"But of course we want to go there and win the game. It is going to be tough, they are a very good Championship outfit. It will be a good test for the lads. The main aim is the league and I expect the gaffer might make one or two changes but still play quite a strong team.

"You don't want to turn your nose up at the Cup because if we have a good run it is very enjoyable for the players and fans.

"It is great to have a good FA Cup run - especially if we can get an even bigger draw. Every game is an opportunity to showcase what we are doing and how far we have come in the last year."
