Wednesday's Championship predictions including Sheffield Wednesday vs. Leicester City

Blackburn vs. Birmingham (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Looking to build on an outstanding away victory last time out, Blackburn Rovers return home to face Birmingham City at Ewood Park in the Championship on Wednesday night.

The Rovers were clinical at the right moments to beat Stoke City 3-0 at the bet365 Stadium, while Blues recorded a much-needed win over strugglers Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew's.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 2-1 Birmingham City

Blackburn had to dig deep at points to hold onto their lead against Stoke, and their counter-attacking abilities could pay dividends once again against a Birmingham side who have been more expansive since the arrival of Rooney.

Blues will have one eye on the home clash with relegation-threatened Rotherham United on Saturday as another must-win, and in the meantime we expect the visitors to show their defensive frailties on the road at Ewood Park.

Leeds vs. Swansea (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Leeds United play host to Swansea City in the Championship on Wednesday night looking to keep the pressure on second-placed Ipswich Town.

At a time when the home side occupy third position in the standings, Swansea are back down in 17th spot after a mixed period of form.

We say: Leeds United 2-1 Swansea City

With Leeds having been below their best either side of the international break, Swansea will sense an opportunity to get back on track. Nevertheless, we cannot ignore Leeds' superior firepower - particularly at Elland Road - and it leaves us to predict a hard-earned win for the home side.

Sheff Weds vs. Leicester (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

It is a battle between the haves and have-nots of the second tier on Wednesday night, as strugglers Sheffield Wednesday welcome league leaders Leicester City to Hillsborough in the Championship.

The Owls have failed to see a significant upturn in form despite the dismissal of Xisco Munoz last month, while the Foxes are cantering towards an immediate return to the Premier League.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 0-3 Leicester City

Sheffield Wednesday's performances have certainly improved since Rohl joined the club, but the visit of Leicester will not provide the Owls with any chance to showcase their new tricks.

The Foxes need to be cautious of complacency as they clash with the division's poorest outfit on Wednesday, but regardless the league leaders are expected to win comfortably at Hillsborough.

Southampton vs. Bristol City (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Southampton will be looking to further extend their unbeaten streak in the Championship when they play host to Bristol City on Wednesday night.

While the Saints sit in fourth position in the standings, Bristol City have recently moved into 11th place after the arrival of Liam Manning as their new boss.

We say: Southampton 2-1 Bristol City

This has all the makings of an intriguing fixture, Bristol City clearly growing in belief under their recently-appointed head coach. However, we cannot back against Southampton at this point, the Saints having been ticking along nicely with Saturday's draw at Huddersfield likely to be a minor blip.

Sunderland vs. Huddersfield (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Sunderland square off against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night looking to get back to winning ways after losing ground in the Championship playoff race.

At a time when the Black Cats sit in ninth position in the standings, Huddersfield are down in 21st spot, four points above the relegation zone.

We say: Sunderland 2-0 Huddersfield Town

With a draw versus Southampton under their belts, Huddersfield will be optimistic about their chances of earning something from the Stadium of Light. However, we can only back a home victory here, potentially with a clean sheet in the process.

Ipswich vs. Millwall (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Following an uncharacteristic performance on the weekend at The Hawthorns, Ipswich Town will be seeking to returning to winning ways when they host Millwall at Portman Road in the Championship on Wednesday night.

The Tractor Boys did not have an answer for West Bromwich Albion on Saturday evening as the East Anglians suffered only their second league defeat, while Millwall were swept aside at The Den by Coventry City on the same day.

We say: Ipswich Town 3-1 Millwall

Ipswich produced arguably their worst performance of the season at The Hawthorns on Saturday, meaning they will be desperate to put things right in front of their home faithful in this one.

Millwall have a tricky quartet of fixtures coming up, and we cannot imagine them picking up any points from their trip to East Anglia on Wednesday night.
