Tuchel provides injury updates on Lukaku and Werner after Chelsea win

Thomas Tuchel expects Chelsea duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner to be out for "some days" but called on his side not to use it as an excuse.

The pair were both taken off in the Blues' 4-0 win over Malmo in the Champions League.

Neither found the back of the net but the west Londoners still eased past their Swedish opponents at Stamford Bridge.

Games continue to come thick and fast for Chelsea, with Lukaku especially taking on a huge workload.

The Belgian has an ankle issue whilst Werner walked straight down the tunnel with concern over his hamstring.

Tuchel accepts his squad will have to find "solutions" with games to come against Norwich, Southampton and Chelsea before October is out.

Timo Werner hobbled off during Chelsea's win

He told BT Sport: "We have a twist of the ankle for Romelu, and muscle injury and hamstring for Timo, so they will be some days out I guess.

"Normally we are in a good place injury wise, only Christian Pulisic is out, but we miss everybody.

"We have a lot of games, lot of competitions, so now we have to deal and find solutions, no excuses.

"The two were in good shape, they are dangerous and can create and score so now we need to find solutions and guys who waited for their chance need to step up and score.

"The race is on, the guys who start against Norwich have our trust and we will try to find new solutions.

'We have won games before with Werner and Lukaku, we don't want these problems too often but it happens during a season."

Jorginho grabbed a brace whilst Andreas Christensen and Kai Havertz also got on the scoresheet.

Chelsea, who lost their last European outing in Turin, are well placed to progress out of their group with their German coach more than satisfied with their showing.

"We wanted three points and wanted them deserved and we got both of those," he added.

"We played to huge intensity, we demanded this from us and we played an excellent game until it was 4-0. We are very happy."

Havertz said: "For us it is a very good result, to score four in our stadium is always good, it gives us confidence, we have to keep on going, recover well and be fresh on Saturday."

Whilst on his teammates' injuries he added: "Timo said they have to do an MRI tomorrow, they are top level strikers and I hope it's not too bad for them."
