The Neymar vs Mbappe feud continues: Kylian snubbed from PSG penalty duty

A star-studded rivalry exploded before half-time in Paris Saint-Germain's 5-2 win over Montpellier.

PSG were 1-0 up after a Falaye Sacko own goal and a Montpellier handball in the box gave them chance to extend the gap with a penalty.

Kylian Mbappe had taken and missed a penalty in the 23rd minute and wanted to make amends but it was Neymar who took the ball.

Mbappe asked for the ball from Vitinha, who ignored him as Lionel Messi watched in disbelief in the background. The French striker wanted to take the penalty but the Brazilian wasn't going to make half a gesture to make it happen. The penalty was Ney's and it was staying that way.

With the ball already on the penalty spot and Neymar standing over it, Mbappe approached him and attempted to talk him round, but Neymar barely had one ear open to his appeals.

And his celebration with his tongue out as soon as he scored the spot-kick is also open to interpretation. There's trouble at PSG.

Neymar already fought Cavani for penalties in 2017

The fact is that it's raining on PSG's parade. The battle of egos between their forwards is not new... nor is it likely to come to an end soon.

In 2017 Neymar had his ups and downs with Edinson Cavani when it came to sharing penalties, which ended up being resolved amicably but still left a bad image of the fractured relations in the dressing room.
