Udinese make the long trip from North-East Italy to Sardinia to face Cagliari in Serie A this Sunday.

Both sides have made disappointing starts, and the two could end the weekend in the bottom three should results elsewhere go against them.

Cagliari have been outclassed in their last two outings and could struggle again despite facing fellow early strugglers.

Udinese should have just enough quality in the squad to get them over the line here and will look towards the likes of Samardzic, Sandi Lovric and Florian Thauvin for inspiration going forward.

Frosinone vs. Sassuolo (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Having made a positive start to life back in Serie A, Frosinone host Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon.

While the Canarini recovered from losing on the opening day to take four points from a possible six just before the international break, their Emilian visitors have lost twice already.

As Sassuolo seem to lack the necessary nous to succeed away from home, they may have to settle for a point from their trip to Frosinone, who have made some intriguing signings. The hosts are also managed by the canny Eusebio Di Francesco, who can hold one of his former clubs to a low-scoring draw.

Monza vs. Lecce (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Still unbeaten this season, Lecce travel north to Monza this weekend, as they resume their Serie A campaign on Sunday afternoon.

Following the international break, the Salentini aim to build on a run of three wins from four in all competitions; meanwhile, Monza have won just once so far.

Lecce's undefeated streak could reach its end on Sunday, if Monza's able front line click into gear and make the most of their opportunities. Putting a halt to their drought in this match-up, the Biancorossi should just have the edge over their in-form visitors on this occasion.

Fiorentina vs. Atalanta (Sunday, 5.00pm)

Returning from the international break with a point to prove in Serie A, Fiorentina host Atalanta BC at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday.

Having been thumped by Inter last time out, the Viola now aim to leapfrog their visitors in the standings and avoid slipping further behind the early pace-setters.

Fiorentina may have to wait for their first home win of the season, as Atalanta were one of the best away teams last season and have kept a couple of clean sheets already this term. Both teams will have one eye on their upcoming European fixture, too, so a draw may represent an acceptable outcome for either manager.

Roma vs. Empoli (Sunday, 7.45pm)

With only one point between them in Serie A this season, Roma and Empoli meet at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening, both seeking a first win of the 2023-34 campaign.

While Jose Mourinho's men lost to 10-man Milan just before the international break, their Tuscan counterparts suffered a third straight defeat without scoring.

We say: Roma 2-1 Empoli

Empoli will finally break their goal drought, but points may continue to elude them; if Roma can pair Lukaku and Dybala together for a sustained spell, the capital club's ailing fortunes can dramatically change.
