Ali Adams was named on the bench for the Scottish Championship side in their clash against Raith Rovers, a match that ended 2-2.
With the strugglers naming just four players on their bench, Adams was brought on as an outfield player to replace the injured Aaron Steele.
To say he made an astonishing impact would be an understatement.
Picking the ball up 35 yards from goal, the 32-year-old struck a sweet, right-footed half-volley that flew past the goalkeeper and into the roof of the net.
Arbroath couldn't believe what they'd seen, taking to X to say: "Ali with an absolute SCREAMER from 30 yards out!!! WHAT A MAN!!"

While comments on social media suggest it was struck from 30 yards, the markings on the pitch suggest that it may have actually been 35 yards from goal.
The strike will undoubtedly be the highlight of Adams' career, with the goalkeeper previously playing for clubs such as Gretna, Berwick Rangers and Lenlithgow Rose.
Raith had taken control of the game early on when Dylan Easton gave them a first-half lead, before Jack Hamilton made it 2-0 after the hour-mark.
Adams' stunning effort came after 76 minutes to give Arbroath a route back into the game, before Leighton McIntosh drew it level with a penalty late on.

Arbroath then shared a video of Adams and his teammates celebrating with the traveling fans, captioning the video: "We love you Ali, we do!"
That stunner could prove to be vital for Arbroath too, with the club sitting ninth in the Championship, three points ahead of bottom club Queen's Park.
You can bet your bottom dollar that Adams will be desperate to start up front for Arbroath when they host Dundee United on Tuesday.
