Tottenham Hotspur have endured another underwhelming season in 2021-22 after being knocked out of all three cup competitions and finding themselves playing catch-up for a top four finish.
Defensive mistakes have let the side down on a number of occasions this campaign and Antonio Conte 's side have managed to keep just two clean sheets in 13 games in all competitions in 2022.
Plans are already underway to sign some quality defenders in the summer and one player the club are reportedly interested in is Torino centre-half Gleison Bremer.
The Brazilian has been a rock at the back for the Italian side this season, which has the fifth-best defensive record in Serie A despite sitting in 11th place.
And fellow Torino player, Mergim Vojvoda, has told Spurs exactly why they should sign his teammate, describing him as an 'animal' at the back.
Which defenders should Tottenham keep at the club for next season? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, Vojvoda said: "[Bremer] is very strong, an animal.
"He has made an incredible leap in quality in the last year. But he can still improve a lot because he is young. He has renewed, we hope he stays because he is really strong.
"Physically, he is strong. He works hard and as soon as I arrived, I was impressed by how much he trained. He is also fast, he is tall and has made a great leap in quality on a technical level, with the ball at his feet. Work pays off, you can see it with him."
Bremer signed for Torino from his homeland side Atletico Mineiro in 2018 and has become a stalwart in defence for the Italian club, whilst also becoming one of the best performing centre-halves in Serie A.
The 6ft 2in defender scored five goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for two consecutive seasons in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and has already made 23 league appearances this campaign.
Only Serie A's top four of Napoli, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus have conceded fewer goals than Torino this season, as they have shipped just 28 in 26 games.
And Bremer has been a big part of that success, which has put clubs from around Europe on high alert.
Tuttomercatoweb also reported that Spurs will face competition in securing his signature, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all keeping tabs on the Brazilian.
But according to Calciomercato, Bremer has already agreed to join Serie A rivals Inter at the end of the season, despite signing a one-year contract extension with Torino.
Yet that was on the basis that he would be allowed to leave the club should a high enough offer come in for him.
Whether the reports that Inter have already agreed to sign him in the summer are true or not, Spurs have been given every reason to sign Bremer themselves and he is certainly not one they want to miss out on.
