After news of sporting director Marc Overmars' inappropriate messages to female staff at Ajax, the Dutch club have been thrown into further disrepute as an academy player has been accused of rape.
The player in question is Donny Warmerdam, who plays for the club's reserve team.
According to journalist Dennis Schouten on Roddel Talk, the events took place six months ago, when the victim was 18 years old. The girl reported the incident to police on February 10.
"The girl told me that she was raped by him at a party six months ago," Schouten said on the show.
"She has already informed the police and she has also filed a summons request in court to present a report on the facts."
"She was at a party in Voorhout six months ago where the player was also there. They kissed there, after which he dragged her upstairs. He wanted more than kisses, although she clearly said she didn't want more.
"However, he ripped her pants to shreds. I saw the pictures. Then he forced her to have sex with him."
Twenty-year-old Warmerdam comes from the Ajax youth academy. The defensive midfielder has not yet made his debut for the first team, but he has played 40 matches with the reserve team
