Saturday's League One predictions including Cheltenham vs. Portsmouth

Fleetwood vs. Derby (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Charlie Adam will take charge of his first home game as Fleetwood Town manager when his side welcome Derby County to Highbury Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts are propping up the League One table, while the promotion-chasing visitors are currently sitting in fourth position.

We say: Fleetwood Town 0-2 Derby County

Derby's promotion bid may have received a setback on Monday, but we think the Rams will return to winning ways against a Fleetwood side that have lost three of their last four home games.

Burton Albion vs. Wycombe (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Two sides separated by a single point in the bottom half of the League One table will do battle on Saturday, as Burton Albion welcome Wycombe Wanderers to the Pirelli Stadium.

The visitors leapfrogged their hosts with a victory on New Year's Day, while the Brewers succumbed to a narrow defeat to Bolton Wanderers under the temporary management of Gary Mills.

We say: Burton Albion 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers

Burton Albion certainly appear to be heading in the right direction under Mills, but with renewed confidence from their return to winning ways on Monday, Wycombe Wanderers should have the quality to get over the line at the Pirelli Stadium and climb the table with a second straight triumph.

Cheltenham vs. Portsmouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Portsmouth will attempt to claim a second straight victory when they travel to Gloucestershire for Saturday's clash with Cheltenham Town.

While Pompey currently lead the way in the third tier, the Robins are languishing in the League One relegation zone.

We say: Cheltenham Town 0-2 Portsmouth

Cheltenham managed to hold Portsmouth to a goalless draw when the two sides met in August, but we think they could be left empty-handed in Saturday's reverse fixture, especially as Pompey have won seven of their 12 away league matches this season

Exeter vs. Carlisle (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Exeter City will welcome Carlisle United to St James Park on Saturday for a key contest at the bottom end of the League One table.

Both currently sitting in the relegation zone, the visitors climbed to 22nd spot and reduced the gap between the sides to three points with a return to winning ways on New Year's Day.

We say: Exeter City 1-1 Carlisle United

In a true six-pointer at the bottom end of League One, with the chance to jump out of the bottom four on the line, we anticipate a tight encounter at St James Park and cannot quite pick a winner, with both sides keen to build on recent improvements.

Port Vale vs. Charlton (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Two of League One's midtable teams will meet this Saturday as Port Vale play host to Charlton Athletic, who sit one place above the hosts at the moment.

With only goal difference between them, there is plenty for each team to play for here, giving each the chance to put some distance between the other if they can secure three points.

We say: Port Vale 1-1 Charlton Athletic

There is only goal difference to split these teams right now in the league, therefore this promises to be a closely contested match.

With each team heading into the game on the back of a defeat a cautious approach could be shown which might lead to them sharing the spoils.
