A group of angry Barcelona supporters surrounded manager Ronald Koeman's car as he attempted to leave the Nou Camp following his side's 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid.
Barca came into El Clasico having won their last two games against Valencia and Dinamo Kiev, and were desperate to get one over their old enemy in the first full capacity match between sides since the pandemic.
But they were dealt a blow when a superb David Alaba strike gave Madrid the lead in the 32nd minute, stunning the stadium into temporary silence.
The second-half saw Barca unable to manage an equaliser, and on 93 minutes Lucas Vazquez effectively ended the game as a contest with a scrambled finish.
Ronald Koeman was mobbed by angry fans
There was still time for Sergio Aguero to grab his first Barca goal with a close-range finish, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Madrid held on for three points and bragging rights over their bitter rivals.
Throughout the vast majority of the match the Barca faithful had passionately supported their team with a stream of constant songs in a deafening atmosphere.
But things turned ugly outside the ground when Koeman was spotted leaving in his Audi.
While some fans simply stopped for a selfie, others banged on the bonnet and shouted abuse.
One could be heard yelling "Get out now," while another added "Get to the street!"
Koeman eventually managed to get through the rabble and drive away, and fortunately it looked as though no serious damage had been done to his vehicle.
Although it certainly wasn't the majority of spectators behaving in such a manner, it will do little to play down speculation linking Koeman with the sack in the near future.
President Joan Laporta has recently given the Dutchman a vote of confidence, but many are of the opinion that he will soon be axed if a better option comes along.

Speaking after the game, Koeman said: "I am disappointed with the result but the team tried until the last second. We didn't create many clear opportunities. It was an even match but in the end the small details proved key.
"It is difficult to find positives from losing at home to Madrid, but I liked the attitude of the players and the fans.
"There is another game on Wednesday, the season is very long so we will keep fighting."
