The Colombian, who signed for Everton from Real Madrid on a free transfer last year, recently moved to Qatari side Al Rayyan, after being told by new manager Rafael Benitez he was not in his plans.
And Rodriguez' South American companion, Richarlison, has given his thoughts on the move, via a comment on Everton's Instagram.
Posting confirmation of the midfielder's departure, Everton wrote on the social media platform: "James Rodriguez has left Everton to sign for Qatari club Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee.
"The 30-year-old Colombia international moves to the Middle East after 12 months at Goodison Park.
"Having joined from Real Madrid in September 2020, James made 26 appearances in all competitions for Everton last season, scoring six goals."
And Richarlison, who appeared to have a good relationship with Rodriguez - on and off the pitch - commented on the post with what appears to be a shocked emoji.
Richarlison's public comment comes just weeks after the Brazilian forward was linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports claimed that the French side were keen to sign the former Watford man as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, if he joined Real Madrid.
In the end, Mbappe remained at PSG.
However, with the France superstar's contract expiring at the end of the season, Real Madrid remain in pole position to sign him next summer.
This could see Mauricio Pochettino reignite his interest in Richarlison and, after seemingly showing his displeasure at Rodriguez's move away from the club, perhaps the attacker will be keen to leave.
PSG lead the Ligue 1 table with seven wins from seve nthis season, but their performances have been slightly underwhelming since superstar Lionel Messi arrived at the club.
Despite having a front-three of the Argentine maestro, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, they have failed to impress as a unit, both domestically and in Europe, with Messi having made just three appearances so far this term without a goal or assist.
