Rice's transfer price set at £100million at West Ham in warning to Man Utd

West Ham coach Kevin Nolan says he would not sell Declan Rice to Manchester United for £100million.

Rice, who has also been touted as a transfer target for Chelsea, is one of the Premier League 's most sought-after players thanks to his pedigree and experience at just 22 years of age.

Now representing his club on the European stage and fully-fledged England international, Rice has already made 135 top-flight appearances, often captaining his team despite still being classed as a youngster.

With United struggling to find a solution in defensive midfield, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could look to sign the Irons academy graduate.

But the Norwegian will have a hard time acquiring Rice if his coach's verdict tells us anything about how much money West Ham would be asking for.

Nolan, speaking on BBC Sport's Football Daily podcast, praised the star's personality as well as his footballing ability.

"When you're in the room with Declan Rice, you know you're in the room with Declan Rice, but he doesn't make you feel uneasy," the former midfielder said.

"He's one of those kids who wants to learn, wants to get better, always willing to take advice on, always willing to try and get better and want to get better."

"The biggest thing for me as a coach is he listens to me, he respects me for what I've done, but I feel that this lad can go on and I feel he's already done more than I have in terms of England appearances, being in Europe and things like that," he explained.

Rice, a confident and bubbly character in public, shone for England during the European Championships, and his attitude and physicality will only see him go on to hit new heights, according to Nolan.

"He's going to keep going because his athleticism," the coach, who assists David Moyes, said.

"He trains every day, he wants to train every day, he can hit it from one side of the pitch [to the other] with his right foot or his left foot.

"He can run with the ball, he's got everything that you could possibly wish for as a footballer and plus he's got a good footballing brain where he's now learning for West Ham, and he's done it with England, he's now learning how to control games.

Nolan then affirmed regarding the suggested valuation: "When you watch him play, he just seems in control of everything. For me, he's going to get better. Putting a price tag on him, I wouldn't sell him for £100m."

Moyes' men are preparing face Solskjaer's side at the London Stadium on Sunday when the two teams meet in the Premier League.

Rice will be hoping to continue his good form after scoring in the Irons' 2-0 victory over Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb in their Europa League group stage opener on Thursday.
