The Oasis star was a surprise addition to the broadcaster's coverage of Manchester City's Champions League clash at Sporting CP in Lisbon.
Gallagher lined up in the gantry alongside Darren Fletcher and Ally McCoist but it proved to be difficult viewing for the lifelong City fan as they were handed a 4-1 defeat by the Portuguese champions.
He watched on as City took a fourth-minute lead through Phil Foden before Sporting hit back with a goal from in-form hitman Viktor Gyokeres.
Gallagher was left stunned in the second half, when Maximiliano Araujo handed Sporting the lead and Gyokeres netted twice from the penalty spot to hand Sporting a convincing victory.
The 57-year-old is no stranger to football media work having dipped into the world of punditry in the past and was handed the chance to try his hand with some pre-match analysis.
