Last week, it was confirmed that head coach Ruben Amorim would be leaving his role at Sporting Lisbon to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
A peculiar deal has been struck between the relevant parties, Amorim having to oversee three more matches with the Portuguese giants before commencing work at United on November 11.
Such a period is partly taking place because several members of Amorim's backroom staff at Estadio Jose Alvalade are following the 39-year-old to England.
With less than two months before the January transfer window, Sporting officials will naturally have concerns over whether Amorim will attempt to take further familiar faces with him to the Premier League outfit.
Gyokeres makes Man United decision
However, according to Record, Sporting have been provided with a huge boost over the future of Gyokeres.
The Sweden international is allegedly against making the switch to the Theatre of Dreams, either in January or at the end of the season.
Gyokeres seemingly views the only positive of a move to Man United as being a reunion with Amorim, who has helped transform him into one of the best forwards in European football.
An incredible 63 goals and 19 assists have been posted in just 66 matches, including 16 strikes coming in just 10 Primeira Liga fixtures during 2024-25.
While the 26-year-old is frequently being linked with a transfer elsewhere, Sporting are protected by a contract that runs until 2028 and a release clause set in the region of £85m.
A major blow for United?
United have already invested heavily in the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, the pair both viewed as the right age to develop in the final third at the club.
Nevertheless, neither player has yet come close to justifying their respective transfer fees, albeit with Hojlund still having netted 18 times in 53 appearances in all competitions.
Providing just 11 goals from 36 Premier League games is the issue, United currently possessing one of the worst attacking records in the 2024-25 campaign with nine strikes in 10 matches.
Zirkzee has not scored a Premier League goal since the opening day of the season, resulting in speculation of a potential return to Italy.
