But, for talkSPORT caller and Aston Villa fan Alan, his predictions for this season's Premier League standings have more than raised the eyebrows of Drivetime hosts Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent.
With just one week to go until the new Premier League campaign begins, the talkSPORT pundits asked listeners to get in touch with their genuine thoughts on how the season will unfold.
Most expect defending champions Man City to be crowned winners again following their recruitment of star striker Erling Haaland, and are unsure on the prospects of the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
But, for Aston Villa super fan Alan, he sees things totally differently - and both Bent and Goldstein were left thinking what he was smoking.
"Here we go Andy, I don't think Liverpool or Man City will win the league," Alan began on Thursday's show.
And it didn't take long for Bent to jump in in shock.
"What?! They won't win the league?" the former Villa striker questioned.
And after Goldstein calmed a rather taken aback Bent down, Alan continued to give his predictions.
"They'll be in the top six," Alan said.
The Villa fanatic was then asked to name who he believed could end the campaign at the top of the tree instead…
"Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal or Manchester United," Alan explained.
But whilst Alan's title forecast was already outlandish, it was his next opinion that blew Bent and Goldstein's heads off.
When asked by if Villa would then finish fourth and in the Champions League spots, Alan confirmed he believed that would be the case, and that Steven Gerrard's side would finish above Chelsea.
"They're going to have a dreadful season," he said, as he predicted the Blues to struggle to reach the top six.
Alan then continued to explain that whilst West Ham won't be in the top six, teams like the Hammers will stop Liverpool and Man City from winning another title.
"It won't be Liverpool or Man City winning the title this season, because teams like Tottenham, Arsenal, Villa and West Ham have all vastly improved.
"West Ham have made some good signings! Those teams will take points off Liverpool and Man City… and we [Villa] will finish above Chelsea."
"I commend him," Bent said as - still completely stunned - he summed up Alan's take.
"But I'm telling you, Man City will probably win the league. Liverpool will be "
Meanwhile, Goldstein gave Alan a slightly more honest review of his predictions.
"You sound like a lovely fella, but that was probably one of the most nuts things I've ever heard!"
We'll see how the table stands come May next year… stranger things have happened!
