The 24-year-old has established himself as one of Ligue 1's top stars since joining Lille from Gent in the summer of 2020.
David has racked up 90 goals in 194 competitive appearances for the French side, including 26 goals in 47 matches last term.
As a result of his impressive form, the Canada international was linked with a move away in the recent summer transfer window.
However, he ultimately remained at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy despite attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.
Liverpool to compete with Inter for Lille's David
While the transfer market is closed for business, David continues to generate significant speculation, especially as he has enjoyed a positive start to the 2024-25 season.
The Lille striker has scored seven goals in 11 competitive matches, including a hat-trick in Saturday's 3-0 win over Le Havre.
With David continuing to perform on the pitch, Inter Live are reporting that Liverpool and Inter are among the clubs who could look to sign the Canadian in 2025.
The report indicates that the Serie A champions are currently leading the race to secure David's signature next year.
However, there is a belief that Liverpool could look to steal a march on Inter by submitting a €25m (£21m) offer in January along with a five-year contract proposal worth €5m (4.2m) a year.
Who else is interested in signing David?
While Liverpool are ready to battle Inter, they could also face further competition in the race to sign Lille's prolific marksman.
Arsenal and Newcastle United are believed to be interested, while Juventus are also keen to sign the Ligue 1 star.
With David out of contract at the end of the season, Juventus have reportedly opened discussions over a potential move to Turin.
As it stands, the Canadian striker would be able to agree a pre-contract with one of his potential suitors from the start of 2025.
