Adeyemi is capable of playing anywhere across the front line and has recorded 143 goal contributions in 239 career appearances to date.
This season, the 22-year-old has already netted two goals in four Bundesliga matches and is gaining significant interest from clubs across Europe owing to his impressive form.
Aside from the Reds, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have all been credited with interest in the German international in recent weeks.
Liverpool add Adeyemi to shortlist of Salah successors
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are interested in signing Adeyemi as a potential replacement for Salah, who will be out of contract next summer.
The report adds that the Egyptian is unlikely to sign an extension at Anfield next season, with the Saudi Pro League believed to be his next destination.
Al Ittihad reportedly made a massive £150m verbal offer for Salah at the start of the 2023-24 league campaign but were turned down by Liverpool on deadline day.
It is understood that the Reds view Adeyemi as a suitable option to reinforce their attacking ranks, and he could be available for around £37.5m, which is viewed as 'negotiable' and 'fair' by the Liverpool hierarchy.
Additionally, signing the 22-year-old will allow the Reds to reduce their wage bill significantly, with Adeyemi currently on £80,000 per week at BVB, while Salah pockets around £350,000 per week.
Liverpool tracking Kubo, Williams, Sane
In addition to Adeyemi, Real Sociedad's Takefusa Kubo, valued at approximately £50m, is also being considered by the Reds as a strong option to bolster their attacking lineup next term.
The 23-year-old signed for Erreala from Real Madrid in 2022 and has quickly established himself as a key player for the club.
Last season, Kubo netted seven goals in 30 La Liga appearances, and this term, he has already scored once in seven games.
Liverpool are also reportedly monitoring Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams and former Manchester City attacker Leroy Sane.
Sane's contract with Bayern Munich is due to expire at the end of the season, potentially making him available for a free transfer next summer.
