The Leeds squad remained in the capital following their 2-1 Premier League loss to Tottenham, and spent the night at Cirque Le Soir nightclub where the incident occurred.
The Telegraph describes the injury as a 'graze that caused a cut' which needed treatment.
Leeds players are given a day's rest on Mondays by manager Marcelo Bielsa, who granted a social evening for his playing staff due to a busy winter schedule.
Phillips has since been assessed by the club's medical staff and passed fit to train on Tuesday ahead of the weekend's clash against Brighton.
The incident happened after the defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, where Phillips played in an unfamiliar centre-back role.
Phillips didn't seem best pleased to be playing there but was widely praised for the way he dealt with star Spurs striker Harry Kane.
"I've got to give Phillips a mention," Murphy told talkSPORT.
"I know he wasn't best pleased about playing at the back but what about how good he was at centre-half, marking Kane? What about how clever he was, knowing when to step in front and when to step off?
"What about how comfortable he was in possession? What a player!"
The 25-year-old was named England's player of the year for 2021 after he impressed at Euro 2020, playing in every game for Gareth Southgate's side as they progressed to the final.
Phillips has also become a crucial figure for boyhood club Leeds, who are currently in a relegation battle following to a poor start to the season, in part due to a calf injury that kept Phillips out of action.
