Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival at Manchester United has cost Paul Pogba his wide left position and forced him into a problematic central midfield role, claims Jamie Carragher.
The Portuguese star return to Old Trafford in the summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had to adapt his team to accommodate his No 7.
Pogba 's lack of discipline in the middle of the park has been a long-term worry and allowed opposing teams to prosper.
Solskjaer began playing the Frenchman on the left last season and saw him flourish after freeing him of defensive responsibilities.
But with Ronaldo returning the United boss has been forced to drop Pogba back into the centre of midfield.

His deficiencies were again on show as Leicester City beat the Red Devils 4-2 on Saturday with Solskjaer's team selection criticised.
And Carragher believes the signing Ronaldo has hampered Pogba, with questions remaining over his best position.
He said on Sky Sports : "You can't play five attacking players, you just can't. I've said this 12 months ago, I've never felt that Pogba and Fernandes can play together centrally in the same team.
"The first thing is that Pogba has to come out of central midfield, but the reason he is playing there comes back to the Ronaldo signing. I said when he signed that this is a better signing for the Premier League than it is for Manchester United.
"Soon as he signed I knew that he was the type of player that you cannot leave out and you have to play through the middle. What's the knock-on effect?
"Pogba going to the left at the end of last and beginning of this season United almost fell onto something.
"Pogba has to play central midfield with Ronaldo coming, he's got too many options. When Pogba plays central there is a disconnect there, he's not disciplined enough to play central midfield.
"I'm not saying he should be out of the team but he shouldn't be in central midfield."
