Inter Miami star Messi breaks yet another record in his first MLS match

Lionel Messi continues to break records - and now another milestone has been added to his already stellar collection.

The 36-year-old recently made his debut for his new side Inter Miami in front of numerous celebrities.

Stars such as Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian and LeBron James, along with the club's owner, David Beckham, were all in attendance.

Messi took to the pitch at a sell-out DRV PNK Stadium, coming off the bench on 57 minutes to secure a last-gasp 2-1 victory for his side.

His dramatic stoppage time free-kick ensured the Florida-based team got past Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

While the stadium was full to rafters, millions watched the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner from home, witnessing his piece of brilliance right at the death.

The match was reportedly the most watched football game in USA television history.

Approximately 12.5 million viewers had tuned in to watch arguably the greatest footballer of all time make his bow stateside.

Messi joined the club as a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain came to an end.

The move sees the Argentinian World Cup winner pocket £46.7m a year plus bonuses.
