Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous, 22, has been charged in connection with an alleged assault of a woman.
A missile is alleged to have struck a woman near Dalkeith Miners Club in Woodburn, Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim is believed to have required hospital treatment following the incident outside of the venue, which is known locally as The Woodburn.
"A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault," confirmed a Police Scotland statement.
"Around 2.05am on Sunday, 20 February, 2022, police received a report of a woman being injured in the Woodburn Road area of Dalkeith.
"The 22-year-old man is subject of a report to the procurator fiscal. He has been released on an undertaking and will appear at a later date."
Porteous has made 122 appearances in all competitions for Hibernian since making his debut during the 2017-18 campaign.
He spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Edinburgh City, featuring 23 times in the Scottish League Two - the fourth tier of Scottish football.
Porteous has represented Scotland at U19, U20 and U21 levels but is yet to make his senior debut for the national team.
He was named in the Scotland squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Kazakhstan in November 2019 but didn't feature in either fixture.
The centre-back was also called-up in October 2020 and November 2021.
"It means everything," said Porteous when speaking about his Scotland call-up in October 2020, as quoted by the Edinburgh News.
"I grew up dreaming about playing for Hibs and Scotland.
"I've been able to live that dream at club level and now I've got a chance to join up with the squad and hopefully give a good account of myself.
"Whenever you pull on a Scotland strip, at any age group, it's an honour."
