Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher choose their Premier League teams of the season

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were in agreement on six players as they named their teams of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

Both pundits opted for 4-3-3 formations with Manchester City stalwart Ruben Dias and Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw in the back line.

But they had differing views on the other spots in defence and in goal. Neville selected Chelsea's Edouard Mendy between the sticks, City's Kyle Walker at right-back and United captain Harry Maguire for the other centre-back spot.

Contrastingly, Carragher opted for Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez, West Ham's Vladimir Coufal and City's John Stones for those positions.

Moving into midfield, Neville and Carragher both chose the talismans of the two Manchester clubs: Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes.

But while Neville opted for City top goalscorer Ilkay Gundogan for the other spot, Carragher handed the holding role to Chelsea's tireless operator N'Golo Kante.

"I thought Kante, certainly since Tuchel has come in, he's probably been as good as any player in the league," Carragher told Sky Sports.

And in attack, the two pundits agreed Tottenham striker Harry Kane should lead the line flanked by City starlet Phil Foden.

But, like in midfield, they chose different players to fill the third spot, with Neville selecting United ace Marcus Rashford and Carragher picking Kane's Spurs colleague Son Heung-min.

"I had Son in at one point, but over the last couple of months, and I love Son as a player, but he's disappointed me," said Neville.

"I can't get that Carabao Cup final out of my head. Spurs were really disappointing and it's carried with me a little bit, he shouldn't do, because he's a brilliant player. An exceptional talent, but I changed him at the last minute."
