Doing their best Red Devils impression, Bayern Munich lost 5-0 away to Borussia Monchengladbach in the German Cup, despite fielding a full-strength side.
The stunning result was Bayern's heaviest defeat in more than four decades, as well as their worst ever loss in the competition.
Despite a four-man attack of Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane - the Bundesliga champions failed to score for the first time in 85 matches.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann - watching at home from his 'data centre' kitchen having tested positive for COVID-19 - probably won't feel the same pressure as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, with this only the second defeat of his reign.
Monchengladbach were three-up before half-time thanks to Kouadio Kone's early strike and two for Ramy Bensebaini.
Breel Embolo, the Swiss star of Euro 2020, then scored twice in the second-half to inflict Bayern's biggest embarrassment since 1978.
Unexpected thrashings have become a feature of the 2021/22 campaign across Europe, with Jose Mourinho's Roma losing 6-1 to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimpt not long ago.
Meanwhile, Juventus were beaten at home to Sassuolo last night, and Man City were dumped out of the Carabao Cup for the first time in five years on penalties by West Ham.
Not the night to be a European giant.
talkSPORT's German football correspondent Kevin Hatchard was at the game, and he said it was the more extraordinary and shock result he'd ever witnessed.
"I've been covering German football for a long, long time, and I can't recall a more extraordinary game that I've covered," he said.
"I think that's the strongest team Bayern have got, this was their proper team and Gladbach wiped the floor with them.
"They were 1-0 up in two minutes, 2-0 up in a quarter of an hour, 3-0 up in 21 mins and they deserved it.
"When they went 4-0 and 5-0 up you couldn't say that it flattered Gladbach.
"It was just a mess from start to finish, and Julian Nagelsmann watching from his kitchen at home would have been rather dismayed by what he saw."
