And with stacks of action on the field, the reactions were just as dramatic off. Here's our selection of the best of the socials.
AUBA CHANNELING HENRY
There was some serious nostalgia going down at the Emirates as Arsenal trounced north London rivals Tottenham.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the Gunners' second and celebrated his strike by sliding on his knees in front of the Tottenham fans. Look familiar?
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry did the very same thing after waltzing his way through Spurs' midfield, then its defence in November 2002.
And what better way for the captain to reenact the celebration than having the Arsenal legend himself glowing with joy in the stands!
Henry was seen next to Spotify founder Daniel Ek - a diehard Gunner who has previously been linked with purchasing the club.
BRUNO IS (VERY) APOLOGETIC
Until Saturday, Bruno Fernandes had been King of the Spot Kick. Mr Penalties 2021. Unstoppable from 12 yards.
But that came to a juddering halt when he smashed his effort way over the crossbar.
Feeling frustrated with the outcome, Fernandes took it to social media to apologise to his fans. At 254 words, it looked more like an official statement, rather than just an apology.
"Nobody is more frustrated and disappointed than me for missing the penalty and the consequent defeat.
"I've always assumed my responsibilities and I've always embraced them under pressure in moments like this.
Today, I failed. But I took a step forward and faced the challenge with the same ambition and responsibility as when, on the many other occasions, the ball ended up in the net.
Bruno added: "Thank you for all your support after the final whistle!"
Cristiano Ronaldo also showed his support by simply posting a 'fist bump' emoji as a comment to Fernandes' post.
THE EGYPTIAN KING HITS CENTURY!
Mohamed Salah set a new Liverpool record with his 100th Premier League goal in the six-goal thriller with Brentford.
The Egyptian master reached a century of top-flight goals for Liverpool in just 152 appearances. The fastest of ANY reds player in Prem history.
The strike also marked Salah's 131st goal for the Reds in 210 matches in all competitions, nicely placing him 10th in the club's all-time top scorer charts.
JIMENEZ IS BACK!
After the horrifying head injury back in November last year, Raul Jimenez scored his first Premier League goal for 11 months.
The Mexico international earned Wolves' their second top-flight success of the campaign with an excellent effort in the 1-0 victory at Southampton.
Fans were over the moon to see their valuable striker back in full action:
KYLIAN MBAPPE… ABSOLUTE FUMES
Over in Ligue 1, PSG forward Kylian Mbappe was caught on camera ranting about team-mate Neymar Jr moments after being substituted in the late stages.
Despite PSG beating Montpellier 2-0, the 22-year old failed to hide his annoyance as he was seen saying to Idrissa Gueye : "He doesn't pass to me''.
The claims of Neymar not giving Mbappe the type of pass that led to Draxler's goal two minutes from time will be a rising issue in the changing room. Trouble in paradise?
