The incident happened in the sixth minute of Wednesday's Europa League final in Seville, leading to a lengthy stoppage as Rode received treatment for his open wound.
Eintracht were able to overcome Rangers on penalties after a tight encounter which ended 1-1 at the end of extra-time.
It proved to be the first controversial moment of the match as Rangers' fan-favourite Lundstram attempted to win a high ball with his foot.
In his attempt to bring the ball down, Rode dipped to head the ball but made contact with Lundstram's studs, leaving himself in a bloody mess.
Lundstram could count himself lucky as he escaped a yellow card for the challenge, with some claiming he should have been dismissed for the high boot.
Former Bayern Munich midfielder Rode had to be bandaged up for the remainder of what must have felt like a long night in the searing heat of Seville.
Rode took to social media to show the full extent of his injury, and it's safe to say it's a bad one with a number of stitches visible down his forehead.
"The main thing is to get the thing!!! Everything else doesn't matter," the German posted on Twitter, after Wednesday's night's triumph.
After the injury, Rode got straight back into the swing of the action and played the full 90 minutes before being substituted before the start of extra-time.
He was replaced by Kristijan Jakic as Frankfurt went on to lift the Europa League trophy in its new format, for the first time in 42 years.
And his injury certainly didn't stop the skipper from enjoying the moment, as he lifted the trophy complete with his new stitches and blood smeared on the front of his head.
Celebrations wait for no man!
