Man United have signed two centre-backs this summer, bringing in Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt, meaning that Lindelof could struggle for action during the 2024-25 campaign.
Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag is thought to be keen to move the Swede on this summer, with Yoro, De Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and possibly Jonny Evans all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Lindelof has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford, and he is unlikely to be offered an extension, with a departure this summer therefore potentially suiting all parties.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina are showing an interest, with the Italian outfit approaching Man United to discuss how much it would take to sign him this summer.
Fiorentina 'in talks' with Man United over Lindelof move
Lindelof arrived at Old Trafford from Benfica in the summer of 2017, and he has represented the Red Devils on 259 occasions in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering seven assists in the process.
The 30-year-old made 28 appearances last term, but he missed the end of the campaign with a hamstring problem and has therefore not represented the club since March 30.
Lindelof was not in the squad for the Community Shield against Manchester City last weekend, with head coach Ten Hag claiming that the centre-back was suffering with a fitness problem.
Man United are looking to further boost their squad before the end of the transfer window, though, and departures will need to occur for that to be a possibility, with Lindelof one of those set to depart.
Which other players could leave Man United this month?
Jadon Sancho's future remains up in the air, with Paris Saint-Germain being heavily linked with the Englishman, while Chelsea have allegedly emerged as surprise contenders for his signature.
The forward could depart before the end of the transfer window, while there is expected to be an exit for Christian Eriksen, with clubs said to have been in talks with Man United over the Dane.
Eriksen is down the pecking order when it comes to the starting roles in midfield at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils are attempting to boost their squad with the signing of Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
Casemiro and Scott McTominay are also being linked with exits, while the same can also be said for Antony, but as it stands, the trio are expected to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer deadline.
