Fan Tokensare growing in prominence and fans of Racing Club who own these tokens have been able to have their say in designing new warm-up shirts.
Translated in English as 'Eternal Passion' was the motto that Racing Club fans decided to adorn the front of the club's shirts that are worn before games by the players.
This is just the most recent example of the decision-making power that Fan Tokens give supporters, after Swiss side Young Boys let fans with tokens choose the away kit that their team will wear next season.
How did the fans vote?
Racing Club started allowing Fan Tokens to be bought by supporters in October 2021 after entering a partnership with Socios.com.
Those fans that have bought 'shares' in their club were able to vote for the motto that would be printed on warm-up shirts via a mobile phone app.
The chosen phrase of 'Eternal Passion' received 43.60 percent of votes on the app, with three mottos in total put forward for fans to vote on. 'Together no one can stop us' came second with 32.48 percent of votes and 'Always with us' finished third with 23.92 percent.
It was a process that enabled those with Racing Club Fan Tokens to feel a part of determining how the club take decisions, with this an early example of what could become the norm.
In the past, Racing Club fans were able to choose a song that played whilst the teams were warming up ahead of home games. The new warm-up shirt will be worn on February 13 ahead of their game with Gimnasia.
Which other clubs have Fan Tokens?
Racing Club followed a number of clubs all over the world who also have their own Fan Token's available for sale via Socio.com.
European giants like Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have given fans the chance to own tokens already. Other clubs in Europe also offer this service to fans, the likes of Arsenal, Inter, Atletico Madrid and Roma among many more.
In Latin America, Racing Club join Brazilian duo Corinthians and Flamengo in having Fan Tokens, and they are all starting to see the new ways in which supporters can participate.
