Erik ten Hag's glowing recommendation is what Ralf Rangnick will want at Man Utd

Former Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic has given a glowing recommendation of Erik ten Hag.

The Ajax boss is one of the favourites for the full-time manager job at Manchester United, along with Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers.

Ralf Rangnick was recently appointed the club's interim coach until the end of the season and is likely to have a say on his successor.

The German will start a two-year consultancy role at Old Trafford when his interim deal expires, unless he stays on as manager or is dismissed.

"I'm fully aware they might be looking for a new manager," said Rangnick last week. "If they will then speak with me about that we will see."

And, although Tadic hasn't endorsed Ten Hag for the United job, he does believe he can succeed at one of Europe's biggest clubs.

The Serbia international is a regular under Ten Hag at Ajax, scoring 83 goals for the club since his move from Southampton in the summer of 2018.

During that time, the Amsterdam club have won two Eredivisie titles and two Dutch Cups.

"He is amazing," said Tadic, as quoted by The Telegraph. "He is one of the best coaches in the world, without a doubt.

"He is totally obsessed with football, I am sure it is all he thinks about. You need a manager like that if you want to be one of the best clubs.

"That is what he has made Ajax. The thing about him that is so impressive is he always seems to have the solution to a problem when you face an opponent.

"He identifies their strengths and how to stop them, whatever the opposition do, he has a response. He will find a weakness and then he is able to tell the players what we must do to hurt them.

"It's so nice. He gives us such an advantage, we always feel like we are one step ahead of the other team.

"I think, tactically, he is the master. But he is also very good in the way he talks to the players. When you have that combination, it is why he is so good."

Tadic's comments come after Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim urged United to appoint Ten Hag before they decided to give Rangnick the job.

"I think Manchester United should sign Ten Hag this week," said Amorim in November. "Now that would be something that would make me quite happy."

Ten Hag recently through his hat into the ring for the full-time United job by telling the press he's "ready" to manage abroad.

"I think I'm ready for it [to move to a top foreign club]," said the Dutchman last week. "I would be happy to take up that challenge.

"But I'm not chasing it. If it turns out that that step will never come, I will not say that my coaching career has failed.

"But I think I have sufficient competences to take on that challenge."
