Götze has rediscovered some of his best form since returning to the Bundesliga with Frankfurt. The 2014 World Cup winner has chipped in with two goals and three assists in all competitions so far in 2022/23, but it's his all-round influence on the UEFA Europa League holders' game that has prompted murmurings of a Germany recall ahead of the 2022 World Cup. Teammate and Frankfurt top scorer Daichi Kamada has been called up for Japan after making a career-best start to the campaign, but is a doubt in midweek due to illness. Randal Kolo Muani could also be involved with France on the back of some whirlwind displays that have him joint top of the Bundesliga assist chart after 13 matches. Borussia Dortmund-owned attacker Ansgar Knauff's reward for his match-winning goal in Augsburg, meanwhile, should be a place in the starting line-up.
Hoffenheim have fallen five points behind top-four candidates Frankfurt, after winning just one of their last seven Bundesliga matches - a 3-0 victory over rock-bottom Schalke on Matchday 10. Either side of that, Andre Breitenreiter's side have drawn with Freiburg, Hertha Berlin and Cologne, whilst losing to Werder Bremen, record champions Bayern Munich and, most recently, in-form RB Leipzig. Club record scorer Andrej Kramaric has begun the last three games on the bench, but is expected to be handed a starting recall after midfielder Grischa Prömel fractured an ankle against Leipzig. With Munas Dabbur also on the sidelines, Georginio Rutter and Jacob Bruun Larsen are set to lead the line for the second match in a row.
Match stats
No player has created more goals for their teammates than Kolo Muani (seven assists) across the entire division in 2022/23.
Only Bayern (41) have scored more goals than Eintracht (27) in the Bundesliga this term.
Defeat to Dortmund on Matchday 12 was Eintracht's third loss at the Deutsche Bank Park this season. In comparison, they've lost just once on the road.
Dabbur (four) is TSG's league top scorer in 2022/23. Frankfurt pair Jesper Lindstrom and Kamada are on five and seven respectively.
In terms of goals per game, one in 11 against Frankfurt is Kramaric's worst return of all Bundesliga clubs he's faced.
Hoffenheim had lost six in succession against Frankfurt and gone eight games without beating Die Adler, before winning 3-2 on Matchday 14 last season. The reverse fixture ended all square.
