Frankfurt are on a high after they got their first Bundesliga win of the season last time out, stunning champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Filip Kostic was instrumental in that result, delivering the corner for Martin Hinteregger's equaliser and then administering the final blow himself in the 2-1 win. It ended a run of five straight league draws for Oliver Glasner's side, whose only loss of the season remains the 5-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund on the opening weekend. Almamy Toure took a knock to his ankle in Munich but should be fit - even if not to start - but Erik Durm is expected back after his spell out due to concussion. One of the big questions was whether it's Rafael Borre or Sam Lammers up top - or both are somehow accommodated. The Colombian got the nod against Bayern, but is in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying action on Thursday night and may not be ready in time for Saturday.
Boateng won the 2018 DFB Cup at Berlin's Olympiastadion during his one season as a Frankfurt player, and now he returns to his former side for the first time. The 34-year-old started Hertha's 2-1 home defeat to Freiburg last time out, which leaves the Old Lady with only six points - two fewer than Eintracht - from their first seven outings. The Berliners' only victories have come against promoted sides Bochum (3-1) and Greuther Fürth (2-1), otherwise it's five defeats in the league. Injuries have been an issue for the capital club, with Marton Dardai the latest in the treatment room. His absence could see father and coach Pal Dardai revert to a back four again. Krzysztof Piatek got the consolation goal from the bench in the loss to Freiburg and is in line for his first start of the season after an ankle injury.
