Kostic had a direct hand in 15 goals in 27 games across Frankfurt's last two Europa League campaigns in 2018/19 and 2019/20. Die Adler made it to the semi-finals in the former, with one of his strikes giving them an away-goals win over Benfica in the quarter-finals. Now after a year away, Eintracht and their famous support are back on a European adventure that will see them take in Istanbul, Athens and Antwerp. The Serbian winger came off the bench to score on Sunday as Frankfurt drew 1-1 with VfB Stuttgart. He's expected to be restored to the starting line-up now, though. Striker Sam Lammers, signed on loan from Atalanta for the season, was handed his debut, but may well give way to fellow new man Rafael Borre - who was also lively after he joined the fray on Sunday - as Oliver Glasner manages his squad's workload across the Bundesliga and Europe. Jens Petter Hauge and Jesper Lindström are two more summer arrivals who have made positive early impression, although the latter may have to give way for Daichi Kamada with Kostic back. Club captain Sebastian Rode and Almamy Toure remain the only injury absentees.
By far the most recognisable name in the Fenerbahce squad is that of former Schalke, Werder Bremen, Arsenal and Real Madrid player Özil. But there are several other former Bundesliga players currently representing last season's third-placed club in Turkey: Max Meyer (Schalke, Cologne), Serdar Dursun (Hannover, Greuther Fürth, Darmstadt), Marcel Tisserand (Ingolstadt, Wolfsburg), Jose Sosa (Bayern Munich) and Luiz Gustavo (Bayern, Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg). Fener had to come through the play-off round - beating HJK of Finland 6-2 on aggregate - to qualify for their first European campaign since 2018/19. They've also won their opening three games of the Turkish Süper Lig season before dropping their first points in a 1-1 draw with Sivasspor on Sunday.
