Cucho Hernandez has explained the reasons behind his decision to depart Watford and join MLS club Columbus Crew in exchange for a reported 10 million dollars.
The Colombian striker featured in the Premier League last season, but could help Watford secure safety, with the Hornets being one of the three clubs to be relegated to the Championship.
"I really liked the project [at Columbus Crew]," Cucho told MARCA Claro.
"They had a lot of confidence in me and I thought a lot about my continuity, about looking for a place where I could be happy and comfortable and have the continuity that I want so much.
"There were also other reasons such as being closer to my family, to Colombia. It's no secret that the MLS is becoming attractive for any player."
Cucho went on to comment about the arrivals of European stars such as Lorenzo Insigne, Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini in the MLS.
"It's nice to see more world-class players deciding to come to MLS," Cucho added.
"I've seen a couple of MLS games and the pace of play, the level of competition is high. I'm happy to be here, it's not going to be easy, but I'll keep working."
The former Getafe forward also discussed about the fact that he is the most expensive signing in the history of Columbus Crew.
"It is a responsibility, but I take it more as motivation," Cucho noted.
"It's good to know that there are people who trust me. The fact that the club made a big financial effort motivates me to want to show a lot of things on the pitch.
" I feel happy and I will give my best to pay back that trust."
