Cristiano Ronaldo was taunted by Al-Ittihad fans, who chanted Lionel Messi's name at him at Al-Nassr's Saudi Super Cup defeat.

His second appearance for his new club saw Al-Nassr get dumped out at the semi-final stage, losing 3-1 to Al-Ittihad.

A man-of-the-match display during a exhibition clash between a Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal XI and Paris Saint-Germain saw Ronaldo net twice.

But in his two appearances for Al-Nassr he's struggled to make an impact, having failed to register a shot on target during their 1-0 win over Ettifaq last weekend.

And on his second appearance he also failed to get a shot on target even though Al-Nassr had 64 per cent possession against Al-Ittihad, who are managed by former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Goals from Romarinho and Abderazzak Hamdallah put home side Al-Ittihad 2-0 up before Talisca, who got Al-Nassr's winner at the weekend, pulled one back.

A stoppage-time strike from Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti sealed the fate of Ronaldo and Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo's arrival was labelled as 'history in the making', the 37-year-old being given a heroes' welcome on arrival, as well as a eye-watering £177million-a-year contract.

However, that still doesn't appear to make him exempt from fan jibes, with a number of Al-Ittihad fans heard chanting 'Messi, Messi, Messi…' in reference to Ronaldo's long-standing rivalry with the Argentina captain for the Ballon d'Or prize for many years of their respective careers.

Al-Nassr's next outing sees them face Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League, which Ronaldo's side are currently top of, on February 3.
