Chelsea vs Porto LIVE: Blues eye progress to Champions League semi-finals in Seville - full commentary on talkSPORT

talksport.com, 13 April 2021, 15:00

Chelsea will be looking to complete their job on Porto and reach the Champions League semi-finals tonight.

The Blues beat the Portuguese giants 2-0 in their first leg tie last week thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell.

Both ties are being played in a neutral venue in Seville due to COVID-19 restrictions making Chelsea's second leg more complicated.

But Thomas Tuchel's side, who smashed Crystal Palace over the weekend, will be confident of making it into the last four of Europe's elite competiton.

The winner of this tie will then take on either Liverpool or Real Madrid in the semis with the Reds trailing Los Blancos 3-1 ahead of their second leg clash tomorrow night.

Chelsea v Porto: Team news

Thomas Tuchel will make a late call on whether N'Golo Kante can start the second leg clash.

Kante has only just shaken off his latest hamstring problem and may be kept back to face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Andreas Christensen will likely start on the bench as he is nursing a slight knock.

Chelsea's 23-man travelling squad: Arrizabalaga, Rudiger, Alonso, Christensen, Jorginho, Silva, Kante, Abraham, Pulisic, Werner, Caballero, Zouma, Mendy, Kovacic, Giroud, Hudson-Odoi, Chilwell, Ziyech, James, Azpilicueta, Havertz, Palmieri.

Chelsea v Porto: What has been said?

Thomas Tuchel believes Chelsea's 'emotional' leaders Toni Rudiger, Cesar Azpilcueta and Mateo Kovacic are fired up for the scrap with Porto.

"Honestly, you don't want to be in a fight with Toni Rudiger, and Azpi, and Kova; they are all emotional guys and you wouldn't want to be in a fight with them," said Tuchel.

"Because they are all ready to fight and it's in their nature to show it on the pitch and to protect the interests of our team which is very, very important.

"They are there and we can rely on them, because it's in their nature.

"Nobody needs to do anything that's against their nature. We can totally rely on them.

"I think for me, when I was a player on the lower level it was always important for me, when you had big matches and felt the tension, you could look around the dressing room and go out of the tunnel, look around who's next to you and feel confident and comfortable.

"And I'm pretty sure that our guys feel very, very comfortable when they look around and see who they rely on.

"The best thing about tomorrow is nobody needs to do it alone, nobody.

"We are out there together, everybody on the pitch will help each other, and we will help from the bench and from the stands, and the guys who come off the bench.

"We do this together tomorrow and we will push hard, hard, hard for the best outcome, you can be absolutely sure.

"And that means that we have 90 minutes to fight for, minimum, and we will do it to achieve a big goal."
