Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Braut Haaland were on the scoresheet in the 3-0 win at Etihad Stadium, meaning that Bayern have a mountain to climb in order to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
The German champions will enter the match off the back of a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, with the result leaving them top of the table, two points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
Man City, meanwhile, made it 10 straight wins in all competitions by beating Leicester City 3-1 in the Premier League, and Pep Guardiola's side are now just four points behind leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.
Here, Sports Mole takes a look at the head-to-head record between Bayern and Man City ahead of their meeting at Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
Last week's first leg at the Etihad Stadium was the seventh time that these two teams have locked horns, and Man City actually lead the overall head-to-head record four wins to three.
The first two meetings between the pair took place in the group stage of the 2011-12 Champions League, and it was very much home comforts for both sides, with Bayern running out 2-0 winners at Allianz Arena in their first meeting before Man City recorded a 2-0 victory in Manchester three months later.
The two sides also locked horns in the group stage of the 2013-14 Champions League, only this time, it was away victories for the pair, with Bayern winning 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium before Man City recorded a 3-2 victory in their next meeting in Germany.
Bayern actually led 2-0 in that particular match, with Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze on the scoresheet, but David Silva, Aleksandar Kolarov and James Milner registered for Man City to turn the game around.
The two sides were getting used to facing off in the group stage of the Champions League and that again proved to be the case during the 2014-15 campaign.
Bayern were 1-0 winners in their first meeting that particular season, with a late effort from Jerome Boateng securing all three points for the home side.
Man City were able to gain revenge in the reverse fixture in Manchester, though, with Sergio Aguero scoring a brilliant hat-trick for the Citizens during an entertaining match.
Bayern actually led 2-1 entering the latter stages of that particular contest, but Aguero's second levelled the scores in the 85th minute before he completed his treble in the 90th minute to secure a 3-2 victory.
