In a debate with Drivetime host Andy Goldstein, former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy added that he doesn't believe 'Golden Balls' was a world-class player either.
Beckham represented his country at five major tournaments. He has 115 appearances, 17 goals and 42 assists with the Three Lions to his name.
He captained the side too, and scored some stunning goals including against Greece in 2001 - the stoppage-time free-kick sending the Three Lions to the 2002 World Cup.
Cundy also questioned where he would fit in Gareth Southgate's current team.
On where Beckham would fit, Cundy said: "Depends on the shape of the team, doesn't it as well? Where does Beckham play in the [midfield] three?
"He's the best crosser of the ball I've ever seen, for balls from wide areas, [Ruud] van Nistelrooy used to lick his lips.
"And I'm thinking of Kane now. If you're Kane now, his movement is good and you see the telepathy he has with [Heung-min] Son, you can imagine in an England shirt if him and Becks what that might look like."
Not only is Kane an outstanding finisher, but an incredible passer, as Son and other Tottenham teammates have found out.
But Beckham was arguably the king of passes, however, when asked by Goldstein who out of Beckham and the Three Lions no.9 was a better distributor of the ball, Cundy responded: "Kane.
"I think Kane is one of the best passers, Kane's passing is unbelievable."
Man United fan Goldstein said in response: "Beckham used to get the ball just in front of Gary Nevillle and ping it 70/80 yards in the opposite direction and it would land at whoever was at that left hand side."
Cundy said back: "I think there's nothing in it, Kane is that good.
"David Beckham's England career went on too long, I felt his career went on too long.
"Pomp David Beckham, he's in the squad and he probably finds a way in the team, but if you're playing a three, where do you play Beckham?
"He's not [one of the very best]. He's the best crosser I've ever seen, but I'd rather have Sterling. Sterling has scored more goals than Beckham.
"In his pomp of course he was in every single team sheet, but I felt Beckham was in the England squad for too long.
"Does he get in ahead of [Phil] Foden? I think Foden's more creative than Beckham.
"We haven't even seen Foden's pomp.
"Beckham was a brilliant footballer for England, he was not world class, he is not England' best XI ever, he's not, not for me."
