It was the first time this season that Lewandowski has failed to find the net for Bayern, in any competition. The Bundesliga's second all-time leading scorer still helped his side take a 3-1 win from their trip to Greuther Fürth, and swiftly returned to the scoresheet in the midweek 5-0 drubbing of Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Champions League. With the likes of Leroy Sane and Thomas Müller firing on all cylinders, Bayern look to be at their best under Julian Nagelsmann, who will be forced into one change this weekend. Right-back Benjamin Pavard was shown a red card last Friday and will miss two league games, which should see Niklas Süle fill in. Josip Stanisic is another option. Kingsley Coman has returned to training following a minor operation on his heart, with Nagelsmann expected to slowly return the Frenchman to the attack. That means Serge Gnabry and Sane should keep their places on the flanks, with Jamal Musiala also pushing for a recall.
It must have felt like Groundhog Day for Frankfurt fans last weekend as they saw their side draw 1-1 with Cologne. It was Die Adler's fourth consecutive 1-1 scoreline in the Bundesliga and fifth draw on the bounce since their opening weekend defeat to Borussia Dortmund. It means Oliver Glasner is still looking for his first win for the club, which would feel like more than three points if it came at the Allianz Arena. Erik Durm and Evan N'Dicka both missed Frankfurt's midweek UEFA Europa League clash with Antwerp and remain out for the trip to Munich. Timothy Chandler is expected to fill in at left-back, as he did last weekend, while veteran Makoto Hasebe is also set to be recalled in defence.
Match stats
Lewandowski has not gone more than one Bundesliga match without a goal for nearly two years. He's also scored 16 times across 22 meetings with Frankfurt, with six in his last four.
Lewandowski (hat-trick), Musiala and Sane were among the scorers in last season's 5-0 home win over Frankfurt - part of an incredible run comprising at least one Bayern goal in a European record 81 competitive matches in a row.
Nagelsmann has won just three of 12 meetings with Frankfurt (D5, L4), but is unbeaten in six against Glasner teams (W2, D4).
It took Rafael Borre 630 minutes to score his first Bundesliga goal. Sam Lammers needed 108 minutes to open his account.
Kostic has scored or assisted in three successive Bundesliga matches since January-February.
Frankfurt are one of three teams still to register a win this Bundesliga season. It's the first time ever that they're winless six matches into a new campaign.
