The Catalan giants have offloaded several players this summer, including Sergi Roberto, Sergino Dest, Chadi Riad, Julian Araujo, Estanis Pedrola and Marc Guiu.
Oriol Romeu has also departed on loan, while Ilkay Gundogan recently returned to Manchester City on a free transfer, bringing an end to his Barcelona stay after just one season.
Barcelona have been looking to sanction more departures as they look to improve their financial position so they can register Dani Olmo with La Liga.
The Spain international has been ineligible to feature in the club's opening two league matches after completing a move from RB Leipzig earlier this month.
Barcelona confirm Faye departure
Olmo's registration could be getting close because Barcelona have now announced they have sold Faye to French side Rennes.
The Blaugrana have confirmed they have sold Faye for €10.3m (£8.7m) and have included a 30% sell-on fee clause in the deal.
Although Faye has left on a permanent deal, there is seemingly a possibility that he could return to the club in the future because they will have the option to exercise a €25m (£21m) buyback clause.
In a statement, Barcelona said: "The club publicly expresses its thanks to Faye for his commitment and dedication, and wishes him every success in the future in both his personal and professional life."
Faye takes next step in fledgling career
Faye began his career in the academy of Senegalese club Diambars FC, before he moved to Croatian outfit NK Kustosija in 2022.
The 20-year-old, who has made one senior appearance for Senegal, spent just over a year in Croatia before he completed a switch to Barcelona last summer.
The centre-back went on to spend the 2023-24 campaign in the second team, making 35 appearances to help his side reach the final stage of the third-tier playoffs where they fell short against Cordoba.
While he was involved in Barcelona's pre-season fixtures, Faye has left the club without making a single competitive appearance for the senior side.
