Barca chief says Vinicius Jr 'deserves a slap for being a clown' in shocking deleted tweet

Mikel Camps, who is the deputy spokesperson for the Barcelona board of directors, posted tweets about the Real Madrid star on Tuesday.

He wrote: "It's not racism, he deserves a slap for being a clown.

"What do these unnecessary and meaningless stepovers represent in the center of the field?"

The post was widely shared and condemned as Real Madrid took on Braga in the Champions League before it was deleted.

Vinicius Jr has experienced vile racist abuse on several occasions since being at Real Madrid.

The latest incident came as recent as last weekend in a 1-1 draw with Sevilla.

One of the opposition fans was immediately ejected from the stadium after racially abusing the Brazilian.

Vinicius Jr called out the incident on social media, expressing his sadness that another perpetrator was a child.

He wrote: "Congratulations to Sevilla for their quick positioning and punishment in yet another sad episode for Spanish football.

"Unfortunately, I had access to a video of another racist act in this Saturday's match, this time carried out by a child.

"The face of today's racist is plastered on websites as on many other occasions.

"I hope the Spanish authorities do their part and change the legislation once and for all. These people must be criminally punished too."

He also remarked that it was the 19th time that he has experienced racism from fans in Spain, a shocking total that sheds light on a massive problem in LaLiga football and society as a whole.

Last season, Valencia were fined a measly £23,500 and were ordered to partially close their stadium after fans were seen making m gestures towards Vinicius Jr.

Four people were arrested in May after hanging an effigy of the Real Madrid star off a bridge earlier in the year.

However, Camps has appeared to deny that Vinicius Jr has experienced any form of racism.

It remains to be seen how Barcelona will react to the now-deleted post or if they will enact any sort of disciplinary action.
