Auba responds after Morgan says he 'misses' striker who is scoring for fun for Barca

The 32-year-old endured a sour exit from the Emirates Stadium in January, as the Gunners agreed to terminate the club captain's contract early following a number of disciplinary issues, which allowed him to move to the Nou Camp in a free transfer.

You'd be forgiven for assuming taking away the club's main source of regular goals would have a detrimental impact on Mikel Arteta's team but, in fact, it's been the polar opposite with the young Gunners flying since Aubameyang's exit.

And the striker has also flourished since his switch to Spain, where he scored his sixth Barcelona goal in nine games for the Catalan giants in a 4-0 over Osasuna.

Auba has even been described as a 'gift from heaven' by Barcelona legend and head coach Xavi, with the striker rediscovering his scoring boots now he's in a happier place.

And his latest strike for LaLiga club Barca led to Morgan taking to Twitter to gush about the former Arsenal hero.

"Arsenal fans have spent the past two hours gloating about why we're so much better without Aubameyang and they're so glad he's gone," he wrote following a 2-0 victory over Leicester that lifted the club back into the Premier League top four.

"Meanwhile, he just scored his sixth goal in nine games for Barcelona, which includes five goals in six LaLiga games.

"I miss you, ⁦Auba."

⁩And the Arsenal fan even got a reply from the man himself, who said he looks back on his time in north London with fondness despite the manner of his exit, admitting his move worked well for everybody.

"Thanks Piers, but sometimes everyone benefits from a separation," wrote the striker.

"Most important is that everyone is happy now, and we had good times that I will not forget."

Meanwhile, Barca boss Xavi has high praise for the striker after netting his fifth goal in six LaLiga games - a victory that lifted the struggling giants above Atletico Madrid and into third in the table.

Aubameyang scored Barcelona's third goal, following a double from former Man City ace Ferran Torres, with substitute Riqui Puig adding a fourth as the Nou Camp club cut the gap on second placed Sevilla to five points with a game in hand.

The result also meant Barca have now plundered four goals in four of their last nine matches - with Xavi's side apparently leaving behind the attacking woes they encountered before January, with winter signings Aubameyang, Torres and ex-Wolves man Adama Traore helping to transform their attack.

"Aubameyang is a present that has fallen out of the sky," said Xavi.

"It's not just [the goals], it's how he trains and his professionalism. He's an example, [all the players] are."
