But in fact, it was a supporter who first noticed the shot-stopper has a tendency to stroll out, with the fan alerting Clichy to the matter ahead of the game.
Speaking after the drubbing, Clichy said: "I received a message on Instagram from a Servette fan, who told me that the goalkeeper never thinks about his position."
The message in question read: "It's fine if you don't see this, but the opposing goalkeeper tonight has a tendency to be a bit high up the pitch. If ever there is a chance from kick-off…"

Clichy's stunner saw Servette race into a three-goal lead after just nine minutes, with the win ensuring they will finish the weekend sitting in second spot in the Swiss Super League.
Social media was not only sent into a meltdown over his outrageous strike, but by the fact they hadn't realised he was still playing.
One user said: "The most shocking thing about the goal is that Clichy still plays football."

Another joked: "Not sure what year or, indeed, dimension we're in but Gael Clichy scored from the halfway line today."

A third added: "Clichy is still playing???"

Meanwhile another simply stated: "Gael Clichy - still got it."
Clichy spent eight years in north London before departing for Manchester City in 2011.
He won a further two Premier League titles with the Citizens along with two League Cups, before making the move to Turkey.
And he played a vital role in Istanbul Basaksehir winning the Turkish top-flight championship for the first time in their history.

A switch to Servette then followed in 2020, with the club in pole position to secure Europa Conference League football for next season.
