Aguero's 'injury clause' contract which could see Barcelona terminate deal early

Sergio Aguero reportedly has a clause in his Barcelona contract which allows it be to be terminated based on injuries.

The 33-year-old joined the Blaugrana this summer after 10 years of service to Manchester City.

However, the striker will have to wait on making his official Nou Camp debut after being ruled out for 10 weeks with a calf injury.

Having struggled with fitness in the last few years, Aguero is seemingly not over his struggles and his new club have taken the precaution in case he fails to feature for them enough for their liking.

Barca have already been rocked by the departure of Lionel Messi due to financial woes in Catalonia this week, the Argentine striker's good friend.

Mas Que Pelotas, a podcast hosted by Spanish journalists Adrian Sanchez and Alejandro Carrasco, have reported the supposed clause in a dramatic few days at the Nou Camp.

According to Catalan outlet Beteve, a 'furious' Aguero has even reportedly instructed his lawyers to seek a way out of his contract following Messi's departure.

Although upon signing in May, the ex-City hitman described Barca as "the best club in the world."

He added: "I think I made a good decision.

"I hope I can help the team. Of course, coming here is a step forward for my career."

Aguero certainly appeared to be in good spirits just over two months ago, likely when he was under the impression Messi was staying, saying: "I am very happy. I hope that I will help the team to win trophies.

"The most important thing is that I want to play, to help this team. If the team succeeds, I will be happy."

"I will try to do everything so that by the end of next season we will come up with trophies. I will give my all," stated the Citizens legend.

"I hope the fans will enjoy watching me play. I am ready to change my style of play for Barca.

"I hope I will help the team with my experience."

Having played together for Argentina, Aguero was clearly relishing the prospect of playing with the man he has previously labelled to be someone who is "like a brother."

"Obviously, it would be a pleasure and it would make me very proud to play together," Aguero said in May.

"I've played with him in the [Argentina] national team since we were kids, I know him quite well and I hope we can play together here."

Club president Joan Laporta said upon the departure of their now former No.10: "We wanted the post-Messi era to start in two years, but taking the circumstances into account, we had to bring it forward.

"Making a decision that would affect our television rights for the next 50 years is not something we could accept," he explained.

"Barca goes above players, coaches, and presidents."
