The former Aston Villa assistant head coach believes he is 'one of the best young managers around' due to his playing style.
Potter, 47, took up the role of Seagullshead coach in the summer of 2019, after impressing at Swansea City.
He had previously catapulted Ostersund from the Swedish fourth-tier to the top-flight in just over four years.
Brighton remain unbeaten so far this season with seven points from a possible nine, and have managed two wins over Manchester United and West Ham, along with a draw against Newcastle.

Terry, who spent 19 years at Stamford Bridge, won a host of trophies during his tenure at the club.
The veteran managed to get his hands on five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Europa League and one UEFA Champions League title.
He made a total of 715 appearances across all competitions, netting 67 goals and contributing to 27 assists.
Potter has been linked with taking over at various clubs with Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa all previously being credited with an interest.
He has also been earmarked as a future England manager, and someone who could replace Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
Should Potter continue to impress, the Stoke-born tactician will likely be targeted by even more sides come the season end.
