Former Spurs star reveals why club won't reappoint Pochettino to replace Conte

After being told they are 'selfish' and cannot play 'under pressure', it has been said that several Tottenham stars would be happy if Conte is sacked during the international break.

Speculation is rife over who could potentially replace him, with Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique and Brendan Rodgers all linked along with Pochettino.

Former Spurs striker and talkSPORT host Darren Bent has declared that should Pochettino return, Harry Kane will likely pledge his long-term future to the club.

And Rose, who played under the 51-year-old for five years, has insisted that he would be his ideal choice, but thinks there is no way that will happen.

Speaking to Stadium Astro about the current situation at Spurs, the 32-year-old said: "After that interview, I don't see how it is possible that he [Conte] will be the manager after the break.

"I think the club has to set a stance out that a manager cannot criticise the hierarchy in public like that.

"I think the next manager will be an interim. After that, I am not sure, I am really not sure.

"Going and getting Poch would be admitting that they were wrong.

"I am not sure the club would admit they were wrong in sacking him.

"For me, I would love him to go back."

Since being axed by Spurs, Pochettino spent over a year out of football become becoming Paris Saint-Germain's head coach in January 2021.

But he lasted just 18 months in charge despite winning the Ligue 1 title as he failed to deliver them European success.

And while he remains open to a Spurs return, talkSPORT understands that he has interest from a number of overseas clubs.
