Tuesday's Argentine Primera Division predictions including Independiente vs. Newell's OB

Seventh-placed Rosario Central need a win over Central Cordoba on Tuesday to keep any hopes alive of a top-three finish in the Argentine Primera Division.

Yet another slip up last time out means Rosario now face an uphill task with just four games left of the season.

Rosario's inability to win recently may be exposed again by a Central Cordoba side who have become tough to beat.

Extending their unbeaten run to six games on Friday means the visitors will fancy themselves to take something from this one.

Independiente vs. Newell's OB (Tuesday, 11.00pm)

With the opening phase of the Argentine Primera Division coming down the home stretch, Newell's Old Boys can end a five-match winless run in that competition when they return to Estadio Libertadores de America for a date with Independiente on Tuesday.

El Rojo were minutes away from claiming a second successive 1-0 victory but ultimately settled for a 1-1 draw at Gimnasia, while Newell's had an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions end when they were beaten 2-0 by Central Cordoba.

Independiente have grown a lot since the arrival of Zielinski, showing more composure when in possession and limiting the giveaways we saw earlier this season.

Before this week, Newell's had often done enough to earn points, but they have lacked that killer instinct in front of goal, which can often make the difference between winning and losing.

Tucuman vs. Gimnasia (Wednesday, 1.30am)

Atletico Tucuman can leapfrog Gimnasia in the Argentine Primera Division table when they host the La Plata-based side on Tuesday at Estadio Monumental Jose Fierro.

El Decano got past Huracan on Thursday, winning 1-0 for the second successive encounter, putting them a point behind El Lobo, who came back to draw Independiente 1-1.
