Tuchel haunts Dortmund in Bayern first game as Kobel suffers howler of season

But Dortmund handed Bayern a goal on a plate in astonishing circumstances after defender Dayot Upamecano booted the ball forward.

With the ball trickling towards the goalkeeper, Kobel went to smash it back down the other side of the pitch.

But he completely missed it - kicking the air as the ball crossed the line to leave him with his head in his hands.

And it led to huge reaction on social media as fans could not believe their eyes with one saying: "Oh my Word! Kobel won't wanna see this one back.

Another one wrote: "Absolutely calamitous from Gregor Kobel."

And a third said: "This is a disaster class. #BVB have completely faltered after that initial Kobel mistake. Dortmund have no answer at all here and it is very very embarrassing."

A fourth posted: "Pro footballers have the craziest temperament because if I'm a Dortmund player and I see those Kobel mistakes I'm walking off the pitch."

Bayern then scored two more quickfire goals to take a three-goal lead after just 23 minutes.

Thomas Muller bundled in from close range in the 18th minute, before he doubled his tally shortly after.

Leroy Sane had his effort parried out by Kobel right into the path of Muller, who couldn't miss from a few yards out.

Kingsley Coman then made it 4-0 to Bayern in the 50th minute with the game looking as though it could turn into a cricket score.

Though Dortmund halved the deficit, as they pulled late goals back through Emre Can and Donyell Malen, but it was too little, too late.

It gave Tuchel the perfect start in his first game in charge as Bayern boss, coincidentally against his old side Dortmund.

Julian Nagelsmann was sacked over the international break after the German giant fell a point behind their rivals following a defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern's decision to change their managers looks to have already paid off, where they will be favourites to now yet again retain the title.
