Frenkie de Jong's potential move to Manchester United continues to dominate the headlines as the summer transfer window approaches the halfway stage.

The Red Devils have sent chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough to Barcelona in the hopes wrapping up a deal, while Camp Nou chiefs are themselves desperate to secure the signing of Robert Lewandowski.

Back in the Premier League, Raheem Sterling is on the verge of moving to Stamford Bridge after Chelsea agreed a deal worth up to £50million with Manchester City. Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong did the same at Barcelona's base yesterday, and it feels as if their respectives transfer sagas - which have dominated the headlines this summer - are finally coming towards a conclusion.

Barcelona's final Lewandowski bid expected 'today'

Barcelona will make a final transfer offer for Robert Lewandowski today, reports Sky Germany.

Camp Nou chiefs are set to table a bid worth €50million (£42.2m), plus bonuses, within the next few hours and a move has been described as 'likely' to happen this week.

That would meet Bayern Munich's asking price, as they want to invest the money into signing Juventus and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Monaco reach Embolo agreement

Monco have agreed a deal in principle to sign Breel Embolo from Borussia Moncengladbach, according to Sky Germany.

The 25-year-old Swiss forward has entered the final months of his contract with the Bundesliga club and looks set to depart from the principality in a €10million (£8.4m) deal.

Man Utd 'close De Jong deal'

Esport3, via Mundo Deportivo, report Manchester United and Barcelona have closed an €85million (£71m) deal to bring Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford.

The news comes after chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough were spotted in Catalunya last night.

The 25-year-old Dutch midfielder is said to be "disgusted" with his current club's treatment of him, although Erik ten Hag still needs to convince him over leaving the Camp Nou.

Chelsea eye Lewandowski hijack

Chelsea have made an audacious move to try and hijack Barcelona's move for Bayern Munich super-striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 33-year-old marksman is determined to quit the German giants for a new challenge after shooting them to their eighth title in ten years.

Lewandowski's capture would represent a statement signing for new Chelsea owner Todd Boelhy and an impressive response to Manchester City's capture of Erling Haaland and Liverpool's signing of Darwin Nunez.

Barcelona have been the Poland international's first choice for some time but Bayern - who have fought in vain to keep their prize asset - want £42million up front.

With the Spanish giants' financial situation posing a problem, Chelsea and PSG have made moves to tempt Lewandowski to the Premier League and the French league respectively.

The player is understood to be open to both moves while Thomas Tuchel, out here with his squad on the first leg of their US tour, would see him as a better fit for the side he is rebuilding than 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lewandowski scored 50 goals in all competitions last season and, in their last four seasons, has scored 193 times.

Chelsea are poised to confirm the signing of City and England winger Raheem Sterling within the next 48 hours with the former Liverpool star set to jet out to join their pre-season preparations.

Barcelona given Lewandowski deadline

Robert Lewandowski's move to Barcelona has a new cut-off date: this Saturday.

According to Polish outlet Meczyki, Bayern Munich are still holding out for more than the Blaugrana's €45million offer which Die Rotten rejected last week.

The 34-year-old striker is set to return to training today and the cameras are sure to be on him.

Bayern want to know whether Lewandowski will join their on their pre-season tour of the United States, while Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are monitoring his situation, as reported by the Independent.

Ozl contract terminated

Fenerbahce and Mesut Ozil have parted ways after the German's contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

The former Arsenal man moved to Turkey in January 2021 but his switch to Istanbul has been a disaster and he's spent the last few months out of the first-team picture. That was the same scenario he was faced with at the Emirates, with Mikel Arteta freezing out the playmaker.

Ozil maintained that he would not be quitting Fenerbahce after he was involved in a verbal altercation with manager Ismail Kartal and subsequently snubbed as a result. Now though, after a change of manager, the situation remains unchanged and NTV Spor report that his contract has been torn up.

Juventus want Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes if they lose Matthijs de Ligt this summer, according to Alfredo Pedulla (via Sport Witness).
