Saturday's Primeira Liga predictions including Benfica vs. Santa Clara

In the final game of the season, Estoril Praia will host Maritimo as both teams aim to wrap up difficult campaigns with three points.

The visitors have a relegation playoff looming in the future, which will add further pressure to them heading into this one as the team tries to build momentum.

This match ultimately has no bearing on the league standing, but both teams will be pushing hard simply because of how tough their campaigns have been.

Estoril Praia have been putting together a good run toward the end of the season and considering they have the home advantage they should be able to take all three points.

Chaves vs. Boavista (Saturday, 3.30pm)

Heading into the final matchday of the Liga Primeira season, Chaves host Boavista at the Estadio Municipal de Chaves on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts missed out on finishing in a European spot and would need a big goal swing to go against them to finish any lower than seventh, while the visitors are looking to consolidate a place in the top half.

Chaves are enjoying a good run of form at home, so we think they will finish the season on a high and win their fourth consecutive match in front of their own fans.

Benfica vs. Santa Clara (Saturday, 6.00pm)

Benfica will be aiming to secure their first Primeira Liga title since 2019 with a victory over already-relegated Santa Clara at Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica on Saturday evening.

The Eagles know three points in their final game will secure the Portuguese crown ahead of rivals Porto, although even a point should be satisfactory when considering Benfica's largely superior goal difference.

Benfica should be confident of beating a wounded Santa Clara side on Saturday, but the high stakes are likely to result in a nervy evening for the hosts if they do not score early on.

The Azoreans will appreciate a trip to a Portuguese giant before beginning their preparation for a season in the second tier - we cannot imagine them earning anything for their efforts in this one, however.

Porto vs. Guimaraes (Saturday, 6.00pm)

With the 2022-23 Primeira Liga title still in their sights heading into the final matchday, Porto welcome Vitoria de Guimaraes to Estadio do Dragao on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the away side will be looking to record a fifth consecutive victory on the bounce and close out what has been an impressive season on a positive note.

We say: Porto 3-1 Vitoria de Guimaraes

Given the form of both sides ahead of Saturday's encounter, we are anticipating an entertaining contest with lots of goalmouth action. That said, we are backing Porto to carry the day come the end of the 90 minutes, although it remains to be seen if that would be enough for them to be crowned champions.

Portimonense vs. Arouca (Saturday, 6.00pm)

Portimonense and Arouca draw the curtain on their 2022-23 Primeira Liga campaign when they go head to head at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao on Saturday.

With fifth-placed Vitoria de Guimaraes facing title-chasing Porto, the Arouquenses head into the weekend knowing victory is paramount as they look to snatch a spot in Europe.

We say: Portimonense 0-2 Arouca

Buoyed by their dominant display against Chaves, Arouca go all out for an all-important win as they look to snatch a spot in Europe on the last day. The Arouquenses have enjoyed the better of this fixture and we fancy them to come away with all three points.

Braga vs. Pacos de Ferreira (Saturday, 8.30pm)

Braga draw the curtain on their 2022-23 Primeira Liga campaign when they welcome Pacos de Ferreira to the Estadio Braga Municipal on Saturday.

The visitors head into the season finale knowing they will be playing in the Segunda Liga next season but will look to bow out of the top flight with their heads held high.

We say: Braga 2-1 Pacos de Ferreira

Having failed to beat the drop, Pacos de Ferreira will be looking to at least go down on a high. However, Braga have been near impenetrable at home, where they have lost just once since early November. We are backing Os Arcebispos to extend their dominance over the visitors and pick up a morale-boosting result ahead of June's cup final.
