Morrison's story is one of unfulfilled potential. His talent was lauded by the legendary manager but his career fell apart before it even started.
Having turned professional on his 17th birthday in 2010, Morrison ended up making just three senior appearances for the Red Devils and left the club in 2012 without playing a Premier League game.
The list of clubs he has played for is long and includes West Ham, Birmingham, QPR, Cardiff, Lazio and Ostersunds.
And Ferdinand has opened up about Morrison's time at Old Trafford nine years later on his YouTube podcast Vibe with FIVE.
The 42-year-old revealed he texted Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder and Sir Alex, who both worked with Morrison at different stages of his career.
There were heartfelt moments during our chat with Rav… him speaking about his time at #whufc is one of those!
I need to see @morrisonravel gracing the football pitch again soon
